Robin Chiero

Before she retired as a Fresno State professor, Robin was already looking for places she could volunteer for post-retirement. Through a service learning fair, she found Valley Animal Center, formerly known as California Feline Foundation, and has been with us since 2015. That’s 6 years! We can’t thank her enough.

Robin had been a volunteer for our Cat Adoption Center where she took care of the cats and did outreach work, getting the word out about Valley Animal Center to the community. She later switched to becoming an admin volunteer.

“I miss the cats,” Robin said, “but being in admin has given me a wider and broader view.”

Robin loves animals, and in particular loves the cats and kitties. Even though she’s no longer around them due to switching over to admin, Robin has her own cats at home. She also fosters kittens when needed. She loves to see long term animal residents find furever homes, and since she has been fostering kittens, she is always overjoyed when the kittens she fosters also find permanent homes.

As admin, Robin gets to encounter community members who come to us and she believes it is very important that the services of Valley Animal Center reach the community. She continues to engage in outreach activities through her admin role in the little things she does, such as engaging in conversations with people who walk through our doors.

Robin felt honored she was nominated, and won, the senior volunteer award from Hands Across the Valley during her time here. She is the longest volunteer we’ve ever had at Valley Animal Center and we are grateful for her time.

We are so happy Robin is with us at Valley Animal Center!
