Meet Our Dog Trainer

Mariah Prudhume has been in the animal care industry for over seven years with a passion for animals. She received her dog training certification through Victoria Stilwell Academy and is Fear Free certified through UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. She has utilized enrichment tools and her training to help shelter dogs learn basic obedience and correct typically unwanted behaviors, setting them up for success in their new homes. More examples of other dogs she has helped can be found HERE. Through the use of positive training, enrichment, and non-aversive tools, she has assisted Valley Animal Center adopters and dog park members with their canine companions.

$35 per dog

If your dog is a current dog park member, they are eligible to receive one free consultation. If your dog was adopted from Valley Animal Center, they are also eligible to receive one free consultation. Dogs who are not dog park members or previous residents of Valley Animal Center are not eligible. Please contact us for more information.

With a consultation, you will receive one hour where our dog trainer will:

  • Consult with you about your concerns and pet needs
  • Provide a functional assessment of your dog(s)
  • Establish a customized cause and management plan for you to implement
  • Provide an optional enrichment plan if desired

Dog(s) must be present at consultation. Must be leashed. Must bring your own treats and treat pouch. One adult handler (18 years and older) per dog. 

Online consultations available through Zoom, but in person recommend.

Services

Our dog training offers several services from private training at our facility to in-house training. Each training session lasts an hour long and gives you access to a variety of resources, including access to our dog trainer via email/text. 

Requirements

To utilize our dog training services, participating dog(s) must be:

  • At least 4 months old
  • Spayed/Neutered 
  • Verification can be through spay or neuter certificate, paperwork from a veterinarian, boarding facility, etc. that states they are spayed or neutered, or visual inspection. Visual inspection of males does not require a tattoo. For females, a visible tattoo or spay scar is required for visual inspection.
  • Up to date on Rabies, Bordetella, Leptospirosis, Canine Influenza (H3N2 AND H3N8), and DA2PPv (or an equivalent). Proof will be required.

Consultations and training, aside from private in-house training, will occur on Valley Animal Center premises at 3934 N. Hayston Ave., Fresno, CA 93726.

Group Training Classes

Join Mariah once a month for group training sessions where you'll learn various techniques in less than two hours!

9AM and 2PM sessions available!

*Additional fees may apply depending on severity of behavioral issues or aggression and/or distance of travel.

Proof of current vaccines and spay/neuter certificates must be provided to continue training services.

Cancellation Policy

We must be given at least a 24-hour notice in the event of cancellation. If we do not receive notice of cancellation 24 hours before a scheduled training session, you will be asked to pay the full amount for the session, regardless of attendance.
