National Kitten Day 2023

Kitten season has impacted our faculty this summer. We currently have more than 35 kittens in need of furever homes and have tried to make room for them by allocating six separate rooms for them. On this National Kitten Day, we ask that you please consider helping us give kittens the care and love they deserve.

Abandonment

Dumped kittens are commonplace in this line of work and, unfortunately, happens way too often at Valley Animal Center.

“About 50% of the cats we take in,” our cat care associate, Anjanette Mendoza, said, “we are their last resort.”

This National Kitten Day, we want people to know that if they are in a tough position where they can no longer care for their pets, there are resources available. For guidance, reach out to our dog and cat adoption centers at dogs@valleyanimal.org or cats@valleyanimal.org

As a nonprofit no-kill shelter, we are not licensed to take in any lost, stray or abandoned animals. With kitten season, we can only welcome kittens if we have the space. Always reach out to us before you feel you have no other alternative.

“There are always resources,” Anjanette said. “Reach out to shelters because nine times out of 10, there is someone to help you. Just keep in mind it will not always be immediately available to you.”
