Welcome to the Valley Animal Center

The Valley Animal Center is the San Joaquin Valley's premier no-kill shelter and low-cost spay/neuter/vaccination clinic for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens.

The Center is an 18,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that serves the entire six-county Central Valley region as a no-kill adoption center for dogs and cats. It offers spacious rooms with inside/outside runs to allow animals to roam freely, as well as an education center, low-cost spay/neuter/vaccination clinic and exercise/training yards.

Final Phase!Check out Petey, our first candidate in The “Good Dog” Training Program. Petey is a big loveable goof who has had one heck of a time finding his forever home due to some behavioral hiccups. Click “here” to read his full story. Since February, Petey has been receiving training under the guidance and expertise of dog trainer Steve Fulmer of “K9 Graduates”.

Final Phase!Trainer Steve Fulmer has been an amazing influence on Petey, working on Petey’s “oversized puppy” behavior and turning him into a doggie gentleman. Steve has even been so generous as to donate his time and resources to work with Petey. Every week, Petey has been participating in Steve’s “doggie boot camp.” Of course, at the end of the day Petey comes back to the shelter and there is only so much that a dog trainer can do during training sessions. What Petey ultimately needs is a home and family of his own.

Final Phase! The next phase of “Petey’s Progress” is for trainer Steve Fulmer to “pass the leash” on to a potential adopter or foster parent, who will continue to receive lessons from Steve so that Petey and his new family can be a cohesive unit in maintaining his good behavior. We are searching for a guardian (foster or permanent) to work directly with Petey and Steve in reinforcing Petey’s learned obedience. If you feel that Petey is the one for you, or if you know someone who would make a great match for the lovable Petey, please contact the Valley Animal Center’s administrative office at (559) 233-8690 or at info@valleyanimal.org.

Final Phase! There are plenty more where Petey came from, good dogs in need of a little extra guidance and encouragement to fulfill their potential as man’s best friend. And that is why the Valley Animal Center has created The “Good Dog” Training Program with the assistance of Steve Fulmer.

Final Phase! To help Petey and his fellow “good dogs” in training find their forever homes, the Valley Animal Center tremendously appreciates any and all “donations” in support of this program.
